In Japan matcha is scooped with a bamboo scoop – chashaku, 茶杓, from a designated box into a chawan 茶碗. With a chasen, 茶筅, a specific whisk crafted from a single piece of bamboo, the tea is whisked with an initial amount of water until the green liquid is frothy, and then finished with more water.

The tea bowl should always show its “front” side to the guest, exposing its most pleasing aspect, decoration or beautiful imperfection.

In the end, it is a ritual to pause and admire the manufacture of the tea bowl in its perfect imperfections.

This set includes all three utensils listed above and comes in a gift box with a presentation card.
